It's only natural to dislike pain. But drowning is of a particular sort. A very petrifying experience, as I understand it. I doubt there's anyone who could not shy away from water after nearly being taken by it.

There was such a great deal of it after we removed the spear, anyone would have assumed the worst. Thankfully it was not the case. The creature should live I expect, though I am still uncertain as to whether it poses a threat.

As if all the blood I've ever lost were drained of me, and the weight of the past had clad me in chains. I had no such feeling until it surrounded us.
